Easter Re-Creation of Tudor Life

The Most Popular Weekend of the Year

Tudor Life at Eastertide

This may be one of the smaller Tudor Re-Creations but it is probably the most popular. Perhaps because we have so much going on.

For the Re-Creation activities we usually have fires everywhere which are so welcoming and give a real glow to activities.

There are usually 50 to 70 or more 'Tudors' taking part. They tend to be concentrated mainly in the service areas of the Hall and Moat House (Kitchen, Bakehouse, Brewhouse - but as a base for Players, no brewing - Dairy, Stillroom, Needleroom etc). These areas are Tudor, elsewhere is not. There is no Time Tunnel.

Themes

The Theme of the weekend is 16th Century activities associated with Easter, such as special Easter dishes in the Kitchen, Easter Subtlety creations in marzipan, hot cross buns in the bakehouse, waffles & wafers, Easter Plays, Pace-egging etc.

The Great Easter Egg Quiz

At Easter we always have as well our Great Easter Egg Quiz. This is no ordinary quiz but an interesting (or infuriating) challenge testing powers of observation as well as wit, to win a truly giant Easter Egg. This Quiz is not Tudor either in concept or content but is much enjoyed by those who welcome a different sort of challenge.

House, Garden & Farm

Are all Open this weekend. Lambing will be coming to an end but the animals will still be in from winter and there should be plenty of young. In the Gardens the Spring Bulbs should be at their peak.

How long to spend ?
Most people arrive early and aim to spend the day here.

Catering

Full catering is available. We usually have several catering points offering different options.
