Kentwell is the originator of historical live educational events in the UK. Since we started, nearly 40 years ago, we've had over half a million schoolchildren pass through our gates.

Our Home Educators History Day is especially for those families who have chosen to educate their children outside of mainstream schools.

This year, we are offering our Home Educator families the ultimate day of time travel, at our History Through The Ages event. Pockets of history, brought to life by Kentwell's skilled living historians will take the visitors through centuries of history will include.

  • Neolithic Hunters and Gatherers
  • Medieval
  • Tudors
  • Elizabethans
  • 1650s Music and Dance
  • Regency Emporium and characters
  • Victorian Household and Staff
  • WWI Army
  • WWII Home Front
  • 1960s Peace Camp

You cannot get a better experience in the UK for giving children a real insight into life in the past.

A visitor to our Home Educators Event said:

A huge thank you to you and everyone at Kentwell for a wonderful, memorable day at Kentwell yesterday.

My six year old and our German teenage friend both voted it fantastic. The characters were all great, and they were excellent at pitching things just right for our different ages and experiences. To see and take part in such a range of activities was just perfect. We managed to visit virtually every part.

Please do not think that Kentwell is just a fair weather visit - we carry on whatever the weather. There will be indoor activities and some of our outdoor activities can be moved inside if the weather fails us.

How long to spend?

Most people will spend most of the day here - there is so much to do and see.

The event will open to Home Educators from 11.00am. You are welcome to arrive on site from 10.30am, to park and collect your tickets. You are also welcome to picnic prior to entering the event or, if you retain your tickets, you are welcome to exit the event to picnic, and then go in for a second visit. Many Home Educator visitors find this an ideal networking time! Last entry is at 3pm - if you arrive later than this, you will not get the full value of your visit. The House and the Bakery/Dairy area will close at 4pm and the whole event will close at 5.00pm.

We do not allow picnics inside the event, however you are welcome to use our picnic area.

Please note, dogs are not allowed within the grounds.
